somewhere between here and nowhere
as the city turned quietly toward April, the world began losing its signal to me.
there are voices i will never hear again, conversations that existed only once and then disappeared forever.
every so often, old scenes return from the deepest rooms of my mind and flicker there like an old film damaged by fire, skipping backward, repeating the same scene until i no longer know whether i am remembering it or reliving it.
those were also the days when my friends would go looking for me, only to find that i had already fled into unnamed corners of the city.
