everyone loves a downfall
from a designer who was once a source of national pride, to a singer once adored beneath the lights, sometimes all it takes is one fall for the crowd to forget everything: the dresses that once made an entire country proud, the songs they once loved... no one remembers that before becoming a bad headline, they were human too.
i read it all and felt like i was watching a masquerade. one person dressed as compassion, another playing judge, another writing an obituary for someone else's morality, explaining the consequences of a life lived too brightly. they gather around someone who has fallen just to sigh, point, laugh, and then call it a lesson.
we like watching other people fall because, for a moment, it lets us forget that we have dark corners too. our own mistakes. our own shame. the things inside ourselves we still do not dare to name.
no one asks how lonely a person must have been before they reached for the pills. they only look at the fall and decide that is where the story ends.
here, everyone gets to be right when someone else gets it wrong.
